This studio focused on the topic of living off the grid. Student projects were
located in a fully-platted, but never-realized residential development in Californiaʼs Carrizo Plain, among a complex and fragile ecosystem that includes endangered species, a large salt lake, a national monument, and the San Andreas Fault. This unincorporated area has no municipal services, requiring the proposals to account for the provision and management of energy, water, food and waste and theirvarious technical and material systems.
